Extensive Green Roof

360 sqm

GaiaMat System

Year Completed: 2021

Working together with landscape designers from SD2, we were tasked to provide extensive green roofs with automatic irrigation system to 2 areas:

1) The central conservetory roof which is flanked by the residential tower on one side and townhouses on the other, making it very visible from inhabitants of these 2 buildings.

2) Cantilever RC roof extended towards the swimming pools.

We have taken into consideration the design intent to provide a low-maintenance selection of polyculture plants to ensure the roof can be maintained with minimal visits per year (10-12 maintenance visits annually). Besides the red and green of our hardy base plants, hidden in the conservatory GaiaMat system are a splatter of rain lilies which may be visible during the monsoon/rainy season.

Under the bridge crossing from residential block to the podium, it was decided that a mix of low-light tolerant species should be used instead due to the semi-shaded conditions, below is an image taken more than a year after installation.
