Familiar to tea-lovers in Malaysia, Purple Cane was established in 1987 to cater to those who appreciate the taste as well as the art and culture surrounding teas. According to their website https://www.purplecane.my/pages/about-purple-cane, they defined themselves as a "cultural business establishment" where activities promote the "integration of soul, mind and practices".
Working together with creative minds at Tetawowe Atelier, GaiaMat Green Roof was installed onto the annex of the main operations & warehouse building at Balakong. Driven by its innovative spirit, the replacement roof deck itself is in fact made out of Tetra Pak- a material made from recycled cartons. Even so, the lightweight characteristic of the GaiaMat made it a perfect living green cover over the new roof. Being able to regulate the temperature with the green roof also means more energy savings by reducing the mechanical cooling needed for the space below.
