ANG MO KIO STATION GREEN ROOF

The aim of the project was to retro- fit greenroof over existing roof areas around Singapore. This initiative was spearheaded by NParks. Our challenge was to green up an existing public roof – Ang Mo Kio MRT station, a 35 years old concrete roof was chosen. We had to work at odd hours with limited manpower due to the size constraint of the access ladder to the roof and time constraints as it is a running live train station. We completed the roof in 2 weeks with our GWS Gaia Mat System. It allows us to pre-grow the roof and roll it up first before laying it out, allowing for easy installation. With no irrigation system, this revolutionary green roof typology would mark a new era of creating living green and sustainability in this urban city.
